Getaria is a tiny fishing village in Basque Country, about 30 minute drive from San Sebastian. Torbotville, (a town in Pennsylvania) perhaps a more appropriate name due to the widely available fish that became the new symbol of Getaria. This was the tail end of a 16 day road trip from Madrid, where we spent 6 nights using Getaria as our Basque base. Some of these pictures came practically from the back yard of our accommodation, Gaintza, a local Txikoli (young but potent local dry white) producer. Staying in the middle of a vineyard, with a 5 minute walk to the beach, an old town, and world class seafood was not exactly what I imagined. I will have more on Getaria and its very unique food scene when I get a chance. Click on any image below to browse through all
Hello-I don’t think I got back to you after staying with Genevra at Ciuci’s Manor. Five minutes after our arrival we asked if we could stay an extra night, and luckily our room (the beautiful big room with a balcony) was available for that one night. Genevra is more than a gem- She’s magical, kind, generous, accessible, full of information. We had 3 gorgeous days there with 2 nights of dinner as well. Thank you for your stamp of approval. Jackie

Wow! good for you. My oldest at one point said “this woman is not real” Glad you enjoyed
Enjoy your stay in the Basque Country; one of my favourite places in the world!
Thanks! I’m actually back
Beautiful pictures. But I can’t click on them, nothing happens. (That fish looks delicious).
Thanks! Its the stupid new WordPress format that prevents clicking when the pics are posted individually like this. I hate it
Gorgeous! Looking forward to hearing more. I’m researching the area for a stay next June.
